Where: St. John’s Community Centre
When: Wednesday 1st September 2010
What: A group of enthusiastic and creative Orange RockCorps volunteers transformed the front garden and playground of the St John’s Community Centre in Islington on Wednesday. Volunteers brightened up the walls of the playground by painting vibrant backgrounds and dazzling stars. Meanwhile, the gardeners amongst us removed ivy from the trees and weeded the entire front garden, replanting and neatening up the flower beds. The remaining volunteers turned their hands to carpentry, creating planters and filling them with soil and new plants.
Funniest Moment: The DJ played Candy by Cameo and a group of the girls spontaneously dropped their gardening tools and performed a spot on Electric Slide. Nice one!
